I first got into photography around the time that I entered freshman year of high school, At first specifically taking photos of one of my biggest passions, Rock Climbing. I soon turned to the internet to learn as much as I possibly could about photography, lenses, cameras, composition, lighting, and countless other elements of photography, trying to teach myself and create better images. I soon branched out from just sports photography, and began nature and landscape photography. I have since taken two photography classes in school, as well as read countless online guidebooks, viewed many videos, and emailed many pros to receive feedback. My drive has always been to be able to capture as accurately as possible the beauty, emotion, pain, happiness, and accomplishments that I experience while climbing, skiing, hiking, camping, and living life.
In October, 2015 I was fortunate enough to be discovered as a photographer by the Boston Rock Gym, where I was working at the time. I immediately agreed to work for them to produce advertising material, climbing stock photos, and images for prints and posters. In the process, my photos have been used to advertise rock climbing in the Boston Chapter of Phoenix Multi Sport and as the future primary image on the Boston Rock Gym website. I have also worked taking adventure photos of Boy Scout trips, rock climbing competitions, and event photography for my school yearbook.
In the future I wish to become a professional photographer, traveling the world in pursuit of my passion and my goal to produce the best images possible. I am inspired by climbing, skiing, hiking, kayaking, camping, sailing, mountain biking, traveling, and the natural beauty of this great planet.
Feel free to contact me if you have any comments, questions, or thoughts about anything, or just to say hi! I look forward to talking with you.
My work explores beautiful locations, spectacular activities, and emotional impact of the viewer. My goal is to bring photography to an unexplored extent, combining traditional visual appeal with phycological influences and biological tendencies.
I have been influenced by the powerful documentation of climbers and adventurers by Jimmy Chin, such as his Dawn Wall project with Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson. Jimmy's ability to capture the whole story of climbing, as well as his spectacular timing and vision motivate me to push the boundries of adventure photography. I am also influenced by the beautiful climbing photography of Kiliii Fish, with dramatic skies, dream-like rock formations, and physically spectacular athletes, as well as his other disciplines of photography and his love for life and nature.
Beginning the day I overcame my fear of Rock Climbing at a summer camp at age ten, I have been fascinated by the challenges, emotions, feelings, and scenery associated with rock climbing. Amazed and incredulous at the ability of one activity to challenge someone mentally and physically, practice skills of dealing with fear, anxiety, stress, and impossible odds, acting as a therapy and release, and bringing people closer to the beauty of nature, I knew that I wanted to capture everthing I experienced when climbing for others to view.
I do my best photography when motivated by spectacular places and inseperable friends, and I strive to capture the emotions I feel throughout life. My goal in life is to change the world in any small way possible; with my photography I hope to motivate people to abandon the monotony of daily tasks, and live a life of passion and adventure.
